The Garden Maze

Melissa was a gardener, not a warrior, so she was startled when a Prophet came one spring to tell her she must save the world. Seeds needed planting and sprouts needed tending, and so she ignored him. In summer a Prophetess came with a similar message, but plants needed watering, and so she ignored that too. Then in autumn a child came, and changed the way she looked at the world. With her garden slumbering the winter away, and with her new knowledge of the earth, Melissa gave in to the demands of prophesy and set out for the Labyrinth of Shadows, where she may die, or be driven mad, or perhaps save the earth.
